Purchasing

You can purchase me TV from one of my vendors, or directly from me in-world...

It can also be purchased on the XStreet SL website if you so choose.

Installation

  1. Drag the TV unit from your inventory onto the ground, ensuring that you are on land you have permissions to rez on.
  2. The TV will inform you if it needs to be deeded to group, be sure to do this if required. *
  3. Click on the body of the TV to start it up.
  4. After a short delay, the TV will expand, and get the media teture for the land.
  5. When you see the overlay fade out, it is ready for use.

The TVs are tied to the user who bought them. When you rez them, it checks to see if you have a license to use it or not. You can then deed it to group.

*Bare in mind, if you deed it to group, you may not be able to modifiy it afterwards. Should you require another unit, feel free to contact me... (details in the support section)

Usage

1: Menu
Click this to bring up the menu, which contains advanced options for controlling the features in the TV.
2: Power
Click this to terminate playback for all clients, and remove the media from the parcel settings.
3: Stop
Click this to stop playback for the client that clicked on it, but leave the media in the parcel settings for future use.
4: Play
Click this to play the current media for all the client that clicked on it.
5: URL
Click this, then paste the url of the media you wish to play back. After a short delay, it will play automatically on all clients.

Supported Media Formats

Formats supported are limited by Quicktime's supported format list.

Flash is supported in the latest Emerald builds (v2xxx+) and SL2.0+ viewers.

* Paste YouTube links in the format: 'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxxxx'.

To watch videos in flash, skipping adverts and playing embed-disabled videos, add a ';' onto the end of the url.

Updates

All updates will be free...

Updates to the physical unit will rarely be needed. Back end modifications will be made as required, and should not disrupt service, nor require you to do anything.

FAQs

When I rez the TV on the ground, it says, "You have not purchased this unit, and do not have permission to own one..."

This will happen if your avatar key is not in the purchase database. This can heppen if XStreet is being a little slow, or if you havn't purchased the unit. If buying on XStreet, it can take up to 5 minutes for your key to be added if their service is busy.
